I had risen early from my tent in the hopes of capturing what promised to be a spectacular sunrise. The land around our camp was barren, except for a flat-topped Acacia tree in the distance. As the sun began to rise and fill the sky with majestic colours, I ran toward the tree in order to capture it as the focal point of the photo. After taking a few photos, I started thinking that the whole scene would be ideal if only a person was there to photograph amongst the landscape and lighting.

It was right then I noticed a figure approaching me from a distance, stepping closer and closer towards the tree. It was a tribal women fully adorned in her beaded jewelry, and with no hair. I asked her to join me beside a nearby stream, and so we walked together. When we arrived beside it, she – almost instinctively – knelt down, and I knew I had the shot I had woken up for.
