The Oldest Resident of Stavische

“Within a quiet rural area is the village of Stavische, it is actually more like one long road with houses set deep behind rows of fences. At the far end of the road we found an old house that served as the Town Council. The only person there was not familiar with the history of the area, so she walked us across the street to meet the oldest resident. This woman was 86 years old and was rather shy, but did confirm that this had once been a flourishing Jewish community. She put it bluntly when she said “but that was all in the past”.
