Shtetl Street - Fastiv

“The town of Fastiv had at one time been a busy railroad centre and had been very industrialized during the Soviet era. The industry had shut down, but the population had not changed from approximately 70,000 people over the last 100 years or more. What had changed dramatically was the Jewish community. In the 1920’s, 80% of Fastiv was Jewish, after pogroms, wars and hardships all that presently remain are 105 Jews. This “Jewish Shtetl Street” remains but few Jews continue to inhabit these modest homes.”
